November 18, 2013 – Dawson CreekAt the November 18, 2013, meeting Council approved entering into an agreement with Hegge Construction Ltd. for $2,757,800 plus applicable taxes for the completion of the Calvin Kruk Centre. Hegge Construction is a local general contractor.

City staff worked with Hegge Construction and the City design committee, Mayor Bumstead, Jim Chute and Terri Hanen, and have finalized the details of the agreement. 

The Calvin Kruk Centre project began construction in 2010 with Preview Builders International Inc. Their contract ended with the City in early 2013 and C Norman Trenching completed the perimeter drainage work.  Hegge Construction will be completing the remaining work in the building. The majority of the work to be complete is in the basement of the building. Expected completion is summer 2014.

The Calvin Kruk Centre will provide quality facilities for the arts community. There will be dance studios, multi-purpose theatre, music studios, textile studios, daycare space, archives and meeting rooms.
