FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 21, 2015
Dawson Creek Council would like to announce that the Memorial and Kin Arenas will be re-opening October 13th. After the sudden closure of the Memorial, Kin and Curling Rink due to ammonia contamination, Council undertook an extensive review of the facilities to determine future use and ensure the longevity of the infrastructure moving forward. Originally slated to re-open in November, Council is pleased to announce that our new Freon ice plants will be up and running with ice available for use in both the Memorial and Kin Arenas as of October 13th; and available in the Curling Rink at the conclusion of their dry floor season.
Mayor Bumstead states “I am extremely happy to see the early completion of our Arenas and Curling Rink ice plants and the reopening for booking schedules. I would like to welcome all users back to our community facilities and thank the entire community for their patience as we worked to rebuild the ice plants, ensuring recreational activities for many years to come. The spirit of our community was outstanding throughout this difficult time and will not be forgotten.”
Council would like to thank TFM Consultants International and the project General Contractor TRANE for all of their efforts throughout the project and their commitment to completing the work ahead of schedule.
