The City of Dawson Creek invites applications for out of school care substitute positions. Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator, Recreation Programmer, or designate, the out of school care substitute is responsible for site supervision and implementation of recreational activities for children between the ages of 5-12 in full or part day programs. This position is a unionized position, and wages and benefits are as provided in the Collective Agreement with CUPE Local 2403.
This position is scheduled on an as-needed basis. All work is dependent upon enrollment. Candidates must be available Monday to Friday between the hours of 7:00 am to 6:00 pm with hours also available as casual/on call, sick or holiday relief.
The successful applicant must be minimum 19 years of age and have completed a course, or a combination of courses, of at least 20 hours duration in child development, guidance, health and safety or nutrition to qualify for employment in a licensed childcare setting. A Food Safe Certificate, and a current First Aid Certificate are also required.
The successful applicant will be required to complete and submit a Criminal Record Search, the results of which must be satisfactory to the City. A complete job description is available upon request.
