State of Emergency Cancelled

For Immediate Release

June 21, 2016

Mayor Dale Bumstead has issued a cancellation order regarding the City of Dawson Creek state of local emergency as the flood waters have receded and clean-up efforts continue.

City Council held a Special Meeting on Monday, June 20, 2016 to receive updated information regarding the status of City infrastructure and services. Council directed staff to research options and costs for the repair of the 15th Street creek crossing with a bridge and bring that information back to Council as soon as possible, ideally to allow construction to be completed by the fall of 2016. The video is available on the City website here: Special Council Meeting June 20th

A Town Hall Flood Recovery Meeting was held Monday evening to provide residents with information from the City, Regional District, Northern Health, Disaster Financial Relief Program, and others regarding the assistance available.  This meeting video is also available here: Town Hall Recovery Meeting.

The City of Dawson Creek is a resilient City whose residents and businesses demonstrated again in this recent emergency situation just how strong the power of collective action and support can be. Thank you to everyone for their patience and support during this difficult time.

For those still requiring assistance, a Resiliency Centre has been opened at the Calvin Kruk Centre at 10401-10th Street, Dawson Creek. It will be open 9 am – 9 pm until Friday, June 24th, and from 10 am – 4 pm Saturday and Sunday, June 25th & 26th. The Resiliency Centre may remain open next week if the need persists.
