The City of Dawson Creek invites applications for a Water Treatment Operator-in-Training position.  Under the direction of the Water Resource Manager, or designate, the WTP Operator in Training assists with the operation of the City of Dawson Creek Class IV Water Treatment Plant and Sewer Treatment facilities.

 

Position requirements include completion of Grade 12 and additional training or certification in water and wastewater treatment. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in water and/or wastewater treatment, SCADA technology, or who have completed higher level relevant courses, training, and/or certification(s) in the field. Completion of a water engineering technology program at an accredited post-secondary institution will be considered an asset. A complete job description is available upon request.

 

The successful candidate will be expected to pursue continued education leading to Level 1 Water Treatment Certification and Level 1 Wastewater Treatment certification as a condition of employment.  At a minimum, Operator-In- Training Certification must be acquired within the first year. Computer skills and a valid Driver’s License are also required in this position.
