2010 BUDGET OVERVIEW & QUICK FACTS
The 2010 Financial Plan is about balance and long term sustainability. How we choose to balance funding and spending not only has an effect on resident’s taxes, but ultimately affects the investment community, jobs, families and the future of our community.
Too many short term cuts to service and/or capital investment can create greater uncertainty and higher risk for the organization and the community. The underlying goals are to encourage a positive investment climate, capitalize on opportunities that we have worked hard to build and to continue moving forward in sustainable practices.
In summary, the Plan recommends decreasing tax rates, consolidating the rate structure, minimal service provision reduction and a capital plan that takes advantage of the grant funding available while promoting areas of economic development that the City has invested in. Staff will continue to work on previous planning initiatives and policy development as outlined in the Strategic Plan and work on service provision efficiencies into the future.
