Calvin Kruk Centre for the Arts - Public Input Requested for Next Steps
City Council and Senior Administration met with the Project Management team last Monday afternoon to discuss the construction tender results for the Calvin Kruk Centre for the Arts. The management team informed Council that the three bids received for the project construction came in significantly over the budgeted amounts approved by Council.
This project has been developed all along with the community’s input. It is a community centre for the City and the surrounding area and will continue to be developed according to the user’s needs. Council has made the decision to cancel the tender at this time and to reach out to the community for further direction – to be sure this project continues along the right path.
A public meeting regarding the Calvin Kruk Centre for the Arts will be held at the Kiwanis Performing Arts Centre on Tuesday, October 19th from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. City Council, Senior Staff and the Project Manager will provide those in attendance with background information on the project and will present some of the options Council is considering for the project. A question and answer period will follow the City’s presentation.
"With Council's ongoing commitment to communicate with the citizens of Dawson Creek on all matters that are important to the future of this community, I encourage everyone to take the time to come to this important meeting." said Mayor Bernier.
All of Council urges the community to attend, to listen, to ask questions and to offer their ideas on the direction the City should be taking with this project.
