2017-16 Lifeguard/Instructor I

The City of Dawson Creek invites applications for two permanent part time Lifeguard 1 positions at the Kenn Borek Aquatic Centre. There will be minimum fifteen hours of work guaranteed weekly and shifts will be scheduled to meet operational requirements. Under the general supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator or designate, a lifeguard/instructor performs life guarding and instructing functions at the swimming pool as well as minor maintenance.   

 

The successful applicants must demonstrate ability and possess the following current qualifications:

  • Current National Lifeguard Award (Pool Option);
  • Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification;
  • Standard First Aid;
  • CPR Level C & AED Certification – to be recertified every six months;
  • One year (or minimum 528 hrs) guarding experience.

 

The successful applicant will be required to complete and submit a Criminal Record Search, the results of which must be satisfactory to the City. 2017-11 Climbing Wall Attendant

The City of Dawson Creek invites applications for a permanent part time climbing wall attendant. Under the direction of the Recreation Manager, Aquatics Coordinator, or designate, the Climbing Wall Attendant is responsible for the operation and safety supervision of the climbing wall. The shifts will vary and will be scheduled Monday through Sunday.

 

Successful candidates must be minimum 19 years of age and have prior climbing experience. A condition of employment will be successful completion of the City of Dawson Creek climbing wall attendant training.

 

A demonstrated teaching ability, current first aid certification, and a flexible schedule will be considered assets. Successful applicants will be required to complete and submit a Security/Reliability Clearance and a Criminal Record Search, the results of which must be satisfactory to the City.

 

The successful applicants must have the ability to perform all duties in a safe manner following established procedures and have the ability to maintain harmonious relationships with all members of the public and other staff members. Casuals will be scheduled to work as needed with no guaranteed minimum hours. Under the general supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator or designate, a Lifeguard/Instructor 1 performs life guarding and instructing functions at the swimming pool as well as minor maintenance.

The City of Dawson Creek invites applications for a part time Aquatics Maintenance position.  Under the close supervision of the Aquatics Maintenance Operator or the Aquatics Coordinator, and the general supervision of the Recreation Manager, this person helps to maintain all building systems related to the operation of the Swimming Pool.  This position will cover week-end and statutory holiday shifts, as well as vacation and sick leave shifts.

 

Pool Operators’ Level 1 certification is required.

The City of Dawson Creek invites applications for a casual Aquatic Maintenance Operator position at the Kenn Borek Aquatic Centre. Casuals will be scheduled to work as needed with no guaranteed minimum hours. Under the general supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator or designate, the aquatic maintenance staff perform routine maintenance tasks in the aquatic facility.  This position will primarily be scheduled to provide week-end and holiday coverage.

 

A current Pool Operators Level 1 certification is a requirement for the position.
