When the area 911 system came on stream in April 2001, the Dawson Creek Fire Department became the fire dispatch centre for the whole South Peace River area. The Department now receives all fire calls from this area and dispatch fire departments in Chetwynd, Tumbler Ridge, Pouce Coupe, Moberly Lake, Tomslake and Arras through a system of radios, radio/telephone interconnects and satellite phones Equipment The Department is well equipped with 6 pieces of modern fire fighting equipment. The City has also recently purchased the first aerial ladder equipped fire truck in the history of the Fire Department. This new truck is a 2001 HME equipped with a 75' aerial ladder, monitor nozzle, pump, ground ladders and hose. |
