![]() Surrounding ParksThe areas surrounding Dawson Creek offer a wide range of recreation opportunities. Pouce Coupe and area offer some spectacular parks including Pouce Coupe Regional Park, located on the banks of the Pouce Coupe River and Bissette Creek. One of the first Historical Points of interest along the Alaska Highway is the Kiskatinaw Bridge. The 162 metre curved structure, one of the first of its kind in Canada, is the only original timber bridge built along the highway that is still in use today. Looking for a relaxing camping spot along the banks of the Peace River? Peace Island Provincial Park is located just minutes north of the community of Taylor along the Alaska Highway. The camping sites are private, large and shaded. Blackfoot Regional Park is located along the Peace River, north of the small community of Rolla on Highway #3 which provides several large unserviced campsites for friends and families. Tumbler Ridge is an unsurpassed wilderness experience, and is a mecca for hikers and backpackers. Kinuseo Falls in Monkman Provincial Park is one of the great waterfalls of North America and is not to be missed by any visitor. There is much to enjoy in this park; the highly recommended Stone Corral interpretive hiking trail, and the hike into Monkman Lake which includes a dramatic series of ten waterfalls in Monkman Creek. With recent discoveries of dinosaur tracks and bones, Tumbler Ridge is truly a place to discover. Many varieties of fish and water fowl are abundant in local lakes and rivers. Chetwynd is centrally located between Moberly Lake and Gwillim Lake Provincial Parks. Enjoy excellent fishing, boating and swimming. All this just scratches the surface.
