The City of Dawson Creek invites applications for a permanent part-time recreation program facilitator.  Under the direction of the Recreation Manager, Leisure Service and Wellness Coordinator or designate, the position is responsible for the site supervision and implementation of a variety of recreation activities such as volleyball leagues, drop-in programs, mini-sports programs (t-ball & soccer), sports camps and birthday parties. The schedule will vary and will include evening and weekend shifts.

 

Successful applicants must demonstrate enthusiasm for sport and an excellence in customer service attitude. In addition, successful candidates must be minimum 19 years of age, a high school graduate, and hold a valid driver’s license and have a reliable means of transportation as the programs are offered in a variety of locations throughout the City. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, to facilitate positive interaction with program participants, demonstrated by two years previous related experience in program/lesson planning, instructing, scheduling, and implementation. Familiarity and efficiency on a computer, including demonstrated use of the Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat are also required, and clerical testing will apply at stage two of the interview process, with a 40 WPM requirement.

 

A current first aid certificate is required.

 

The successful applicant must have the ability to perform all duties in a safe manner following established procedures and have the ability to maintain harmonious relationships with all members of the public and other staff members.  Physical agility – the ability to complete duties requiring physical effort such as set up, take down and proper storage of recreational equipment is also required. Successful applicants will be required to complete and submit a Criminal Record Search, the results of which must be satisfactory to the City, as a condition of employment.
