Every year two local community groups are randomly drawn from applicants in the Kindness Meter program. Donations are collected throughout the year from the refurbished parking meters that are strategically placed in the community, which are then donated to the selected groups in January of the following year.
Three years after this program’s initial launch in April of 2016, the City of Dawson Creek is proud to continue the Kindness Meter initiative in partnership with its initial sponsor, TC Energy, who has generously matched the funds raised each year.
Last January, the Visually Impaired Group of Dawson Creek and the Dawson Creek Arts and Wellness Fund were selected to receive 2019’s donations.
At the regular Meeting of Council this morning, the Mayor with TC Energy presented the Visually Impaired Group of Dawson Creek and the Dawson Creek Arts and Wellness Fund with cheques in the amount of $344.90 to help towards their programs and services.
The 2020 Kindness Meter recipients have been chosen and the Dawson Creek Society for Community Living and Literacy Now will receive funds raised throughout the year. To find out how to be an applicant to the program, visit the Kindness Meter web page.
