Summer Programs!

The Community Services Department has lots planned for you this summer! Registration is required for all programs (including the free ones). This is to ensure everyone’s safety as we follow current Provincial Health orders.

  • Recreation Programs
    • Shell’s Slice of Summer includes FREE activities for everyone. Sign up for the Enchanted Forest & Fairies, or the Starry Nights Carnival.  
    • Park Play Days gives you the opportunity to get out and enjoy local parks around town with the little one. Engage Sport North will provide a FREE introduction to different sports all summer!
    • Summer Camps: this summer youth can try out Archery, Cricket, Golf, Ball Hockey and Where the Wild Things Are (outdoor adventures and skills).  
    • FREE Outdoor Vinyasa Yoga can be found at Kitchen Park this summer thanks to our sponsor, Borek Construction
    • FREE Fitness Walks for all ages will be running on Wednesdays. Engage Sport North will have fitness stations set up along the walking trail for that added extra workout!
    • Spots are still available in the Youth Soccer Program, coached by South Peace Junior Soccer coaches.

  • Aquatic Centre
    • For those interested in becoming a lifeguard (or those simply looking for lifesaving skills when you head to the lake), Bronze Cross starts July 5 and Bronze Medallion starts August 6.
      • Did you know students can earn high school credits by taking these courses? Check it out.
    • Registration for Private Swim Lessons opened on June 16; private lessons are now full, but you can contact the Aquatic Centre to see if any spots have opened up. 
    • Registration is now open for summer Public Swim
      • Public swim will run Monday-Friday this summer (pool is closed on Saturdays and Sundays)
    • Be sure to register for a FREE Walking Track Session this summer!

  • Other
    • Don’t forget – you can borrow one of our FREE Fit and Fun Activity Kits!
      • These kits are full of games and activities.
      • A fully refundable rental deposit is required – once everything is returned in good order, your deposit will be refunded.
      • We just added a NEW Boot Camp Kit which includes video instruction, agility ladder and discs, yoga mat and lesson instruction.
    • Leisure Access Program
      • This program helps eligible limited-income Dawson Creek residents access recreation, pool and arena programs.
      • If you know of anyone who could benefit from this program, pass it along! Next application deadline is August 1.
