EveryBODY Active

EveryBODY Active is a City initiative that utilizes areas within Dawson Creek that are available to everybody free of charge to encourage physical activity and well-being. For more information please contact Community Services at 250-784-3604.

FREE Family Day Weekend Activities

Join us for a jam-packed weekend full of FREE, fun and exciting activities for the whole family during Family Day Weekend (Feb 12-15). Family Bubble Days includes virtual sessions you can do from the comfort of your own home, as well as outdoor activities such as the Landmark Scavenger Hunt, Activity Passport and more!

FEBRUARY 12: Virtual Story Time with the Public Library (10:00-10:30am or 1:00-1:30pm).
Join your friendly librarian for a funny story of a boy pet sitting fairy tale animals along with a story on animals! This program includes a free craft kit.
Kit available for pick up Feb 10-12 at the Community Services Office.

FEBRUARY 13: Virtual Valentine’s Day Baking (10:00-10:30am or 1:00-1:30pm).
Join your friendly recreation staff for a cookie baking session! Cookie supply kits include basic ingredients, a valentine’s cookie cutter and recipe (eggs and butter not included).
Kit available for pick up Feb 10-12 at the Community Services Office.

Get your activity passport, grab your family and head outside for some family fun! Log your activity in the passport for a chance to win some prizes! Send your completed passport to recreation@dawsoncreek.ca or drop off at the Community Services Office at City Hall by Tuesday, February 16.

FEBRUARY 12-15: LANDMARK SCAVENGER HUNT. Win Prizes!!!
Get your Scavenger Hunt package, grab your family and head outside to locate landmarks around Dawson Creek and solve the questions! Send your completed (or semi-completed) scavenger hunt package to recreation@dawsoncreek.ca or drop off at the Community Services Office at City Hall by Tuesday, February 16.

FEBRUARY 12-15: BORROW A BOARD GAME OR FIT AND FUN ACTIVITY KIT.
Pick up a board game or Fit and Fun Activity Kit on February 12 (with a fully refundable deposit) and return to the Community Services Office at City Hall on February 16. There are a variety of board games available as well as many different activity kits (snowshoes, igloo building, snow painting and more).

  • Board Game deposits: $20 (fully refundable upon return)
  • Fit and Fun Activity Kit deposits: $50 (fully refundable upon return)

 

FREE Activity Kit Rental

Fit and Fun (EveryBODY Active) Kits *FREE Rental*
Did you know the Community Services Department has Everybody Active (Fit and Fun) Kits you can sign out? They are great for family reunions, picnics, birthday parties, etc. These kits are free – all you need to do is provide a $50 refundable deposit. When the kits are returned, you will get your $50 back. If there is any damage or items missing, the deposit will go towards the replacement/repair. To rent a kit, come in to the Community Services Office (downstairs at City Hall). For more information, call us at 250-784-3604. 

 

FREE Registered Programs & Activities

Wayne & Bev Dahlen Walking Track
Free to use but you must register for a session; must bring a pair of indoor shoes and sign in at the Kenn Borek Aquatic Centre. For track schedule, visit our Walking Track page.  

Vinyasa Yoga (Flow) (Ages 15+ years) *CLASS FULL*
Program is sponsored by Borek Construction. Join our instructor, Sarah Miller, as she takes you through Vinyasa style yoga. This yoga (commonly referred to as “flow yoga”), is characterized by stringing postures together so that you move from one to another, seamlessly, using breath. Bring a mat, block, water and comfortable clothing. All abilities welcome. Must submit a Get Active Questionnaire prior to the first day of class. 

Choose to Move (Ages 65+ years) *POSTPONED TO SPRING*
Program is sponsored by BCRPA & Centre for Hip Health and Mobility. New participants only. 
We’re looking for older adults who want to be more physically active. Choose to Move is a science based approach that helps you introduce the habit of physical activity into your daily life in ways that make sense for you. You work with a trained activity coach to create a tailor made physical activity plan that works for you. You choose activites that you know you will enjoy and are able to do.The coach will meet with you and support you along your path to better health by one-on-one group meetings, monthly group meetings and regular check-in phone calls.

ActivAGE™ (Ages 65+ years) *POSTPONED TO SPRING*
Program is sponsored by BCRPA. New participants only. 
This a group-led physical activtiy class. It is a progressive program with planned physical activities including stretching, the activity and cool-down. This is a fun program that includes discussions and handouts to help you improve your overall health and physical well-being
