EveryBODY Active

EveryBODY Active is a City initiative that utilizes areas within Dawson Creek that are available to everybody free of charge to encourage physical activity and well-being. For more information please contact Community Services at 250-784-3604.

Funding Assistance for Registered Programs

There are several funding assistance programs available for economically disadvantaged individuals or families who are interested in sigining up for reacreation, sport and wellness programs. Criteria varies between each program; click on the links below to learn more.  

  1. Leisure Access Program (All ages). Sponsored by the City of Dawson Creek
  2. Canadian Tire Jumpstart (Ages 4-18).
  3. Kid Sport Dawson Creek (Ages 18 and under)
  4. Dawson Creek Arts & Wellness Fund (Age 24 and under). 

*Application forms for the above programs can be picked up at the Community Services Office.

FREE Activity Kit Rental

Sign out one of our “retro” game or activity kits for a 48-hour period. A fully refundable deposit of $20 is required at sign out, to be refunded when the kit is returned in good order. To sign out a kit, call 250-784-3604 or stop in at the Community Services Office, downstairs at city Hall 10105 12A St.  

COVID-19 Protocols in place for use; please adhere to current provincial guidelines and limit use to your family bubble.

Did you know the Community Services Department has game and activity kits you can sign out? They are great for picnics, your back yard, etc. 

Sign out a game or activity kit for a 48-hour period and return to the Community Services Office. A $50 fully refundable deposit is required at sign out, to be refunded when the kit is returned in good order.

Participaction Summer Solstice FREE Event
June 25, 11:00am-1:00pm at Kitchen Park

As part of the Community Better Challenge this June, Community Services is inviting the whole community to the free ParticipAction Summer Solstice Event!

  • Tree Planting “plant a tree, take a tree”Tree planting will be held at Harry Morrow Ball Diamonds between 11am and 1pm. 
  • Face Painting

  • Parachute Games
  • Participation Events
  • Popcorn
  • Prizes and give-aways
  • Learn about our Emergency Management program, Leisure Access Program, our parks and trail system and watershed, as well as many other local programs and initiatives.
  • Be sure to join the Community Better Challenge and help Dawson Creek win $100,000 towards physical activity initiatives and the title of “Canada’s Most Active Community”.

Shell’s Slice of Summer FREE Events!
Join Shell and the City of Dawson Creek for fun-filled evenings of FREE EVENTS this summer! Games, activities, sparkle tattoos, popcorn, prizes and giveaways are in store for you! All events are drop in (no registration required) and open to all ages. Bring the whole family and spend a fun evening with us!

Wayne & Bev Dahlen Walking Track
Free to use! Must bring a pair of indoor shoes and sign in at the Kenn Borek Aquatic Centre. For track schedule, visit our Walking Track page.

Parks
There are multiple parks located around Dawson Creek which provide opportunities for walking, running, biking and exploring! Many playgrounds can be found in our parks. Check out the Aerial Park Tour on our website: www.dawsoncreek.ca/parks

Seniors FITNESS PARK
Located at 110th Avenue and 10th Street, an outdoor fitness equipment area which displays instructions on each piece of equipment.

The Dawson Trail
The Dawson trail is 4.6km of maintained trail, winding through Dawson Creek. It makes up part of the  Great Trail (Trans Canada Trail) system which runs across Canada. Click here to view the Walking Trail map. 

Disc Golf Course
Located in Barbaree Park at 107th Avenue and 15th Street. Sign out a Fit & Fun Disc Golf kit from Community Services with equipment and rules. Donated by the DC Disc Golf Club.
