Community Services offers programs throughout the year for all ages. 

Preschool Programs

Mini Sports (Ages 2 – 5yrs)
Join our instructors for some great exposure to Soccer and T-Ball! Participants learn the basic techniques of both sports through games and activities. Please note, parent participation is required for those youngsters who are 24 – 36 months. Sign up now at www.dawsoncreek.ca/register OR call Community Services at 250-784-3604.

Youth Programs

Youth Drop-In Ball Hockey (Ages 6 – 11yrs)
Join other drop-in Ball Hockey enthusiasts at O’Brien Gym on Mondays and Thursdays between 4 – 5 pm for some great fun! Please note, a helmet with a faceguard, hockey stick and gloves are required. Go to the Schedules Page (scroll down to Drop In Programs) for dates and times.

Adult Programs

Adult Drop-In Volleyball (Ages 15+ yrs)
Now that the Co-ed League is done for the season, why not keep playing? Join us on Tuesday nights between 6 – 7:30 pm at Central Middle School Gym for Drop-in Volleyball. Please note, those between the ages of 15 -18 yrs must have written parental consent.

Senior Programs

Drop-In Pickleball (Ages 55+ yrs)
One of the fastest growing sports, pickleball is a combination of tennis, ping pong and badminton. Each player has a wood paddle and hits a ball (similar to a whiffle ball) back and forth over a net. Come try it out – it’s lots of fun!! Go to the Schedules Page (scroll down to Drop In Programs) for dates and times.

ActiveAGE (Ages 65+ yrs) *FREE*
This fun and social program will get you moving in a relaxed and inviting class environment with likeminded people. Classes include discussions and handouts to help your overall health and physical well-being. Class sizes are small so register early; sign up now by calling Community Services at 250-784-3604. 

Choose to Move (Ages 65+ yrs) *FREE*
We’re looking for older adults who want to be more physically active. An activity coach will meet with you and supports you along your path to better health by one-on-one group meetings, monthly group meetings and regular check-in phone calls. Class sizes are limited to twelve (12) so register today! sign up now by calling Community Services at 250-784-3604.

Everybody Active Initiative
Everybody Active is a City initiative providing activities, events and ideas that are available to everyone free of charge, to encourage physical activity and well-being. Check out the EveryBODY Active Page!

Annual Clean-Up Campaign: Community Clean-Up Day is May 11 (8:30am – 1:00pm). Register your local Non-Profit group by May 9 to help clean up Dawson Creek; all participating groups will receive $200. 

Annual Clean-Up Campaign: Seniors’ and Disabled Spring Yard Waste pickup will run May 13 and 14; the Rotary Club(s) of Dawson Creek are volunteering to assist residents of our community by picking up spring yard waste for those who are registered. You must register your yard by May 9. Please note, unusual or heavy items, renovation items will not be picked up. 

Park N’ Play *FREE*
Join us on June 1, between 11:00 am – 2:00 pm, at Kitchen Park for another amazing FREE Park N’ Play event! There will be activities, prizes, a bouncy castle, vendors and fitness classes – something for everyone! Go to the Schedules Page (scroll down to Special Events) for more information.
