Community Services offers programs throughout the year for all ages.

Back to Basics (Ages 6 – 12 yrs) DROP-IN PROGRAM
This drop in program is a fun way for kids to get back to learning how to make things as well as activities that are basic skills. Children will learn to plant a seedling, hammer a nail, treat a wound, navigation, and more. Go to the Schedules Page (scroll down to Drop In Programs) for dates and times.
Cost: $4.50 / $45 for an 11-session punch card. 

Kangaroo Kids – Sport Fundamentals for Preschoolers (Ages 2 – 5 yrs) REGISTERED & DROP-IN PROGRAM
Through this fun interactive program, children will learn sport skills through play. Games like Island Hop and Feed the Shark will keep children entertained while they learn skills such as jumping, throwing, and balance. Parent participation required for those 36 months and under.

School’s Out Sports Camp (Ages 6-12 yrs)
Join us for a fun-filled week of games, activities, and sports in this spring break camp. Sports activities include snowshoeing, sledding, skating and a variety of other outdoor activities (weather dependent).

Adult/Senior Programs

Yoga in the Gym (Ages 19+) *FREE DROP IN*
Sponsored by Borek Construction.
Gentle Flow Yoga, open to all adults. Bring a mat, water and comfortable clothing.
Tuesdays (4:45 – 5:45 pm) @ O’Brien Gym, Jan 7 – Mar 10

Intro to Taping (Age 15+)
Participants will go through the basic taping process for feet, ankles, wrists and hands, learning how to set proper anchors, tension and start and end points.

High Five Training – Principles of Healthy Childhood Development
This nationally recognized certifi cation will assist participants in working with children’s programs in the sport and recreation industry. Upon completion, learners will be able to design an activity plan to enhance a child’s physical activity and mental health, build healthy relationships in all areas of programming for children and create environments and spaces that foster healthy child development.

Adult Drop-In Volleyball (Ages 15+ yrs) DROP-IN PROGRAM
Bring your friends and enjoy a fun recreational volleyball environment on Thursday nights between 6 – 7:30 pm at O’Brien Gym. Net and balls provided. Participants work together to make teams and ensure that everyone gets fair playing time. Please note, those between the ages of 15 -18 yrs must have written parental consent.

Adult Drop-In Soccer (Ages 15+ yrs) DROP-IN PROGRAM
Keep active this season with the indoor soccer league for adults on Thursday nights between 7:45 – 9:15pm at O’Brien Gym.  Join other soccer players to develop your skills and participate in game play. Please note, those between the ages of 15 -18 yrs must have written parental consent.

Drop-In Pickleball (Ages 55+ yrs) DROP-IN PROGRAM
One of the fastest growing sports, pickleball is a combination of tennis, ping pong and badminton. Each player has a wood paddle and hits a ball (similar to a whiffle ball) back and forth over a net. Come try it out – it’s lots of fun!!

ActiveAGE (Ages 65+ yrs) *FREE*
This fun and social program will get you moving in a relaxed and inviting class environment with likeminded people. Classes include discussions and handouts to help your overall health and physical well-being. Class sizes are small so register early; sign up now by calling Community Services at 250-784-3604.

Choose to Move (Ages 65+ yrs) *FREE*
We’re looking for older adults who want to be more physically active. An activity coach will meet with you and supports you along your path to better health by one-on-one group meetings, monthly group meetings and regular check-in phone calls. Class sizes are limited to twelve (12) so register today! sign up now by calling Community Services at 250-784-3604.

Everybody Active Initiative
Everybody Active is a City initiative providing activities, events and ideas that are available to everyone free of charge, to encourage physical activity and well-being. Check out the EveryBODY Active Page!

Family Zumba & Fundamentals (All ages) *FREE DROP IN*
Program is sponsored by Borek Construction.
Be ready to have some fun in this drop-in program! Family Zumba is a basic course for all ages and abilities. A funfilled family program with games and activities for family members. Recreation staff will be on site to encourage FUNdamental movement skills and physical literacy through active free play!
Children must be accompanied by a parent.
Wednesdays, Jan 8 – Feb 5 (5:30 – 7:00pm)*
