Youth Drop-In Ball Hockey

If you are between 6 - 11 years old, join us Mondays between 4:00 - 5:00 pm at O'Brien gym for Drop In Ball Hockey! 

Equipment required: helmet with a faceguard, stick and gloves.

Drop in fee is $3 or you can buy an 11-session punch card for $30.00 (this punch card can be used for other youth recreation drop-in programs).

Move for Health Day!

Celebrate Move for Health Day on Friday, May 10 at the Pool!

Toonie Swim during public swim hours (9:00am-1:00pm & 3:00-9:00pm), including a drop in Water Blast fitness class from 7:30pm-8:30pm.

There will also be a Toonie Climb from 5:30pm-9:00pm!

Toonie Swim/Toonie Climb

Come down to the Kenn Borek Aquatic Centre on May 12 and Swim for $2 or Climb for $2 (Climbing shoes are included)!

Climbing is for ages 4+. Everyone requires a valid waiver; those individuals ages 4 -18 must have their waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.

Swimmers who are 7 years old or younger must be within arms reach of a responsible person 16 years of age or older, in the water at all times.

Lifejacket (PFD) Day!


May 16, 2019

May 16 is Lifejacket (PFD) Day! Come down to the pool and meet Buckles, the Red Cross Lifejacket! He will be at the Kenn Borek Aquatic Centre during Swim Lessons:

  • 11:00am - 12:00pm
  • 1:00 - 2:00pm
  • 4:00 - 6:00pm

Information on Lifejackets and PFD's will be available: why and when you should wear them, how to choose the right size for you & your children and much more!

The Community Better Challenge initiative is meant to rally communities coast to coast to sit less and move more together. As individuals or as part of an organization, track your physical activity minutes and at the end, regional winners and one community will be announced as Canada’s Most Active Community!

  • The National Winner receives $150,000.00 for their community
  • Regional Winners receive $20,000.00 for their community

You can also win an individual prize, ranging from $10.00 - $2,000.00!

TWO WAYS TO GET STARTED:

  2. Sign-up at www.participACTION.com
  • Track minutes as an individual or on behalf of an organization.
  • Individuals will also be able to track on behalf of their children. Minutes are assigned to your community based on your postal code.

UPDATE - May 31: Due to the current air quality, this event is moving to the Memorial Arena at 1107 - 106 Ave. 

Head down to the Memorial Arena on Saturday June 1 between 11:00am - 2:00pm for FREE games, prizes, fitness classes, bouncy castle fun, health and wellness information, Tattoo Table (sponsored by Here to Health Wellness Clinic) and more!

The Mile Zero Jitterbugs will be doing a swing dance session, McMott Yoga will be leading a Yoga class and City Staff will be doing a fun Zumba Class - all ages and abilities are welcome to join in!

Be sure to stop by the ParticiPACTION Community Better Challenge booth for some free SWAG!

Who else will be there? Booster Juice, Dawson Co-op, Dawson Creek Choral Society, Dawson Creek Disc Golf, Dawson Creek Minor Ball, Dawson Creek Triathlon, South Peace Chiropractic and South Peace Junior Soccer!
