Animal Licences

The City of Dawson Creek requires animal licences for cats, dogs, hens and bees. Licences must be renewed each year.

Get a licence

Purchase a licence at the BC South Peace SPCA. The SPCA is open Tuesday to Saturday from 1 PM to 5 PM. Licences can be purchased using cash, debit or credit. Call BC South Peace SPCA if you have any questions.

 

Cost

Our Fees and Charges Bylaw is updated each year through Council. It lists the amount of every City fee. Costs increase on January 1st every year.

Cat licences

Notes regarding cats:

  1. The license fee receipt for a spayed or neutered cat without tattoo or microchip may be presented to a partner Veterinarian Clinic as payment to microchip the cat in respect for which it was issued, as described on the license application, and not transferable to another cat.
  2. The license fee receipt for an unneutered or unspayed cat may be presented to a partner Veterinarian Clinic as payment to neuter or spay and tattoo the cat in respect for which it was issued, as described on the license application, and not transferable to another cat.

Any unlicensed dog or cat $106.00 + $15.90/day
A Nuisance animal $159.00 + $15.90/day
A High-risk dog $212.00 + $21.20/day
An Aggressive dog $270.00 + $21.20/day
Small animals $26.50 + $15.90/day
Large animals $53.00 + actual cost of boarding
Repeat impoundment surcharge payable in addition to the impoundment fee if the dog or cat was impounded less than six months after a previous impoundment $132.65
