Several elementary schools, a middle school, and a secondary school are available to the residents of Dawson Creek. We are also home to two private schools and a trades college.
Peace River South School District #59 maintains the public education system and facilities within Dawson Creek. Twenty schools offer K-12 grade levels with approximately 3,600 student enrolled.
Partnerships with the local college allow secondary students to pursue trades programs and dual credit options. Students of all ages can participate in outdoor learning at the Pat O'Reilly Outdoor/Environmental Studies Centre located at Gwillim Lake, a short trip from city centre.

The Northern Lights College (NLC) and the University of Northern British Columbia provide higher education to the Dawson Creek area.

The University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) main campus is in Prince George, BC. UNBC provides opportunities in Dawson Creek and the surrounding area through their Peace River-Liard Campus in Fort St. John, and in conjunction with NLC.
