Mining Sector

The mining industry within the region has been centered around Tumbler Ridge, BC for decades. After a long dry stretch, the industry saw a resurgence in 2016 with the rise of coal prices and mines once again opened in the area.

Mine locations

Conuma Coal currently operates the mines in Tumbler Ridge, BC with plans to expand their Wolvermine mine to produce an additional 1 million tonnes for the next ten year. The reopening of the mines in 2016 provided many local jobs to the area. The mines are:

  • Brule Mine
  • Wolvermine Mine
  • Willow Creek Mine
  • Hermann Mine (future expansion to Wolvermine Mine)
