Transit and Transportation

Get around Dawson Creek on public transit, take a stroll or bike ride through our parks to reach your destination. If you are heading out of town  for personal or medical reasons, read more about Bus the North.

Transportation Master Plan

The City of Dawson Creek is currently updating its Transportation Master Plan. We asked for your input to help shape the future of transportation in our community through an online survey and at the following events in 2024:

  •  Pop-up booth at the Mile Zero Cruisers Show N’ Shine
  •  Pop-up booth at the Dawson Creek Exhibition & Stampede

At the March 24, 2025 Council Meeting, consultants presented the Draft Transportation Master Plan. The final plan will be presented in the coming months.

BC Transit

Public transit in Dawson Creek is operated by BC Transit. Two routes run throughout our city. Use the trip planner on the BC Transit website or view schedules and maps to find out how to get around.

Umo

BC Transit uses Umo, a digital payment service. Riders can use the Umo app to manage their account, or sign-up for an Umo card or add funds to their account at one of the following vendors:

  • City Hall
  • Dawson Creek Municipal Library
  • Northern Lights College

Riders can also add funds to their accounts by calling Umo’s customer service line toll-free at 877-380-8181. Learn more about Umo online.

Bus the North

Bus the North is a webpage that provides you with the different transportation options that connect our community to the people and places that matter. Whether it’s a short trip or a long journey, for medical or personal, there are a wide range of options to travel by bus throughout Northern BC. Bus the North highlights all these options for you in one central place; connecting you to the people and places that matter.

Type of buses and services

 Bus services include:
  • large coach-style buses for long distances such as Northern Health Connections and BC Bus North
  • regional transit buses operated by BC Transit

  • small shuttle buses and vans providing service in smaller communities and regional centres

 Services are ideal for:
  • Families traveling to access services
  • Individuals with disabilities

  • Individuals with medical or health appointments

  • Individual with less access to other transportation

  • Seniors and elders connecting to shopping and family

  • Students and youth accessing programs and opportunities

The transportation providers each have their own bus schedules and routes, and cover different areas and travel needs across Northern BC. 

Most of the bus services are available to everyone, with some services focused on seniors and elders, community members and people traveling for medical purposes.
