Mayor Darcy Dober was born and raised in beautiful Dawson Creek. He is currently serving his first term as mayor, after having been elected as a city councillor in the 2020 by-election.
He and his partner Sasha are raising four amazing children and Darcy has been running successful businesses for over 20 years in three communities: Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, and Grande Prairie. Mayor Dober supports many community initiatives, including sports clubs, extracurricular activities, and various fundraisers, and has been involved in multiple service clubs over the last 25 years, including Rotary, Kiwanis, Shriners, and Masonic Lodge to name a few. He has also served as a director and board member for the Chamber of Commerce for 10 years, been involved with Dawson Creek Tourism, and served on the BC Northern Tourism Board.
Mayor Dober is committed to his family values and is passionate about serving the community of Dawson Creek and the greater Peace Region.
Councillor Apolonio was born and raised in Manila, the capital of the Philippines. He graduated from Far Eastern University with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce with a major in Accounting. It was a blessing to apply his education in one of the largest and most famous corporations of restaurant chains, Jollibee, as a Restaurant Manager. The knowledge and skills he acquired, plus the love of his families, honed and equipped him for these days.
Gregg came to Canada under the Foreign Worker Program on January 15, 2009 arriving in Dawson Creek. When he arrived in the city it was love at first landing! He found the community and people welcoming and friendly; he has built meaningful and precious relationships here. After more than 13 years, Dawson Creek is now his home away from home! Gregg received Permanent Residency in 2012 and became a Canadian Citizen in 2016.
Councillor Apolonio is an active volunteer. He has been a member of the dynamic KALIPI Filipino – Canadian Association for 10 years, serving 2 terms as President. He is an active member of Notre Dame Catholic Church and has been a liaison for new immigrant families at Notre Dame School. He gives his time to the Knights of Columbus and is currently the Grand Knight. Gregg also volunteers with the Rotary Club and has served on the Dawson Creek Tourism Advisory Committee.
For the past 9 years, Gregg has worked as a Support Worker with Independence Networking Services. He supports individuals with special needs helping them to live a full and healthy lives and reach their full potential.
Councillor Apolonio is serving his first term on City Council; historically, the first Councillor in Dawson Creek of Filipino and Asian descent. He is looking forward to the next 4 years with City Council and will serve the City and its people passionately, and hopes to execute positive changes.
Councillor Earl is proud to call the Peace Region home since 2010. He is serving his second term as a Councillor for the City of Dawson Creek.
Jerimy graduated from Thompson Rivers University in 2008 with a BA, focused in Professional Writing and Rhetoric. Since returning to the North, he has been working in communications, stakeholder engagement and community organizing in some capacity or another. In the summer of 2017, alongside his partner, Jennifer, he welcomed his first child, Abigail Lee, into the world.
Most notably, he spent two years as the Communications and Events Coordinator for the Dawson Creek and District Hospital Foundation before moving on to the Encana Events Centre, where he worked with an amazing group of people for five and a half years as the Director of Corporate Partnerships. Currently Jerimy is the Marketing, Communications and Member Engagement Specialist for the Lake View Credit Union.
In addition to his professional experience, he was a volunteer for six years as a Director for the Dawson Creek Chamber of Commerce, ultimately serving as the President for more than three of those years. Councillor Earl has been involved in a number of other community endeavors throughout the years and has an abiding passion for helping foster and promote the local music scene in the Peace Region.
He is a passionate advocate for local enterprise and decision making, having seen first-hand how instrumental local business is to building community and contributing to the amazing quality of life enjoyed by the people of Dawson Creek.
Councillor Kaempf was born and raised in Dawson Creek and is serving her second term on City Council. She has lived in Dawson Creek and surrounding area her entire life, and is now raising her children in a place she is proud to call home. Amy has two children who have taught her so much and she is blessed to be their mom. She currently works at Safeway as Administrative Manager and is approaching her 25th year with the company. In regards to education, Amy has taken her Associate of Arts Degree and the Office Administrative program at Northern Lights College. One of Amy's defining traits is community spirit, and she has spent countless hours in the community coaching volleyball, soccer and bowling, volunteering at the Dawson Creek Alliance Church with the children's church and women's ministry, volunteering at Notre Dame School, and being a member of the Notre Dame Parent Support Group. For leisure, Amy spends a lot of time running, and tries to enter and compete in as many marathons as she can in the region. She loves to give back to her community what her community has given to her, and be able to join in the decisions that make this region spectacular.
Councillor MacDonald is serving in his first term on Council. He has been married to his wife Gillian for 16 years. They have three amazing daughters who are active members of many activities in Dawson Creek including the Mile Zero Figure Skating Club and the Dawson Creek Seals swim club.
A dedicated father and family man, Kyle has competed in and judged Scottish Heavy Athletics for over 12 years. He is also a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoys riding throughout the beautiful Peace Country.
Kyle and Gillian have owned and operated the two Tim Hortons restaurants in Dawson Creek since March of 2013. In this capacity, they have been able to support many great community groups including the Dawson Creek and District Hospital Foundation, as well as a number of youth activities and local sport associations.
Councillor MacDonald is looking forward to his first term on City Council and serving his community in this new capacity.
Councillor Parslow is serving in his fourth term on Council. He has been an educator all his working life – high school teacher and high school principal in the Lower Mainland and near Victoria. He served as School Superintendent and CEO for School District #59 (Peace River South) from 1981 to 2001. He was instrumental in the formation of the Kiwanis Performing Arts Centre and the Kiwanis Enterprise Centre. As Superintendent of Schools, he served on the Provincial Educational Finance Committee for many years. He was a pioneer in the implementation of School Based Management and focused a lot of his leadership on the empowerment of staff. Since retirement, he works as a workshop presenter on personal and organizational effectiveness, governance, leadership and team building. He serves on the board for the Dawson Creek Society for Community Living as the Secretary – Treasurer and is the long time President of the Peace River Chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists. He is an active member of the Dawson Creek Sportsman's Club and is a keen bird watcher. Charlie serves as the liaison between the City and the Dawson Creek Regional Airport, as well as the Mile Zero Park Society. He is the alternate representative of the City for the Municipal Insurance Association, the Parcel Tax Roll Review Panel, and the Peace River Regional District Board of Directors which includes the Dawson Creek and Pouce Coupe Fire Management Committee. Charlie also serves on the Site C Regional and Local Government Liaison Committee.
Born and raised in Dawson Creek, Councillor Sudnik is grateful to have an opportunity to give back to the community. As a proud father to two wonderful daughters, he has played an active role in supporting their participation in a variety of sports and fine arts opportunities including time volunteering, fundraising and even building parade floats!
As the successful owner of Custom Creations, Mike understands the value of customer service, loyalty and supporting local. Over the past 20 years in business he has learned to grow and change with the needs of the community and the direction of small business. Mike has used his success as a business owner to support local groups through sponsorships and donations.
Over the past 2 years, Councillor Sudnik has been an active member of the South Peace Health Services Society and continues to have an active interest in helping improve healthcare in Dawson Creek.
In his spare time, Mike is a gym enthusiast and enjoys the outdoors, taking advantage of what the Peace Country has to offer from hiking and camping to recreation and road trips.
Councillor Sudnik is excited to be serving his first term on City Council. He is passionate about building a sustainable future for our community through smart decision making and open honest conversation.
