Lands For Sale

The City of Dawson Creek Council can choose to sell City-owned property if and when they decide to. BC Assessment Authority determines the values of the land, unless otherwise posted by Council.

Buying City-owned property

Buyer's costs

  • 5% GST
  • Administration fee
  • Pro-rated local improvements
  • Provincial Property Purchase Tax
  • Registration fee

Deposits

We will accept a minimum of a 10% deposit of the full purchase price on property posted on the land sale list. The deposit will hold the property for a period of 10 days following Council's consideration. This allows the buyer to make arrangements for the full payment. After the 10 day waiting period, the property will revert back to the Land Sale List and become available for purchase. The 10% deposit will be returned.

Current properties for sale

We advertise the list of lands for sale in January and July of each year, updating as properties are sold.

The list is also available to view at City Hall during normal business hours or by contacting the Tax Clerk.

Reserved properties

Council can label any property as reserved. Reserved properties will not be available for sale until Council directs it. When considering proposals, Council will examine:

  • market value, property maintenance costs, development plans and timelines
  • the Official Community Plan
  • the Zoning Bylaw
  • any other matter Council deems relevant.

To learn more about purchasing a reserved property, view the Land Sale Policy.
