The application is a guide to assist organizers through the process of hosting a community event. It ensures you obtain all necessary approvals and required permits to host a successful event.

It is the responsibility of the applicant to obtain any and all permits, licences and certificates that are required for an event, and to provide copies of this documentation to the City of Dawson Creek prior to the event.

Submit your application no less than 15 days before and no more than 60 days in advance of the event.

Can I serve liquor at my event? |
In order to serve liquor at your event, you must submit a letter to Council requesting approval before obtaining a BC Special Event Liquor Permit. You can submit the letter to Council by email or in person to the Administration Department at City Hall. If your event will have liquor:

Can I sell or serve food at my event? |
A Temporary Food Permit from Northern Health is required to sell or serve food at an event. Visit Northern Health's website to learn more. |
How do I arrange for a road closure? |
A road closure is included with your Community Event Permit application and will be completed internally by staff. |
What are the requirements for a bouncy castle? |
Any bouncy castles used at an event must be registered with Technical Safety BC. Learn more about obtaining an operating permit on the Technical Safety BC website.

What are the requirements for a generator? |
A temporary operating permit through Technical Safety BC is required. Learn more about obtaining an operating permit on the Technical Safety BC website. |
Do I need to provide a site plan or map? |
Yes, please include the following information: areas of use, vehicle and emergency access or egress, portable washrooms (1 for every 50 people), dumpsters, tents, inflatables and other onsite activities. |
