Community Grants

A $12,500 budget is currently available for supporting community requests for support. This funding is subject to annual budget approval by City Council. City Council reviews funding and requests on a quarterly basis.

The purpose of the Grant Policy is to:

Guide decision-making by Council,
Provide a consistent application process for all applicants, and
Ensure project deliverables from city-supported grants are fulfilled.

Grant support requests may include:

Financial support
Rental facility discount
In-kind support

For applications to be considered, they must be submitted to the Finance department a minimum of two months prior to the event start date.

Financial documents required

Project or event budget.
Organization/group/event financial statements from most recent fiscal year end.
In-kind support and other donations or grants provided by other funding bodies for the event/project.

Community Grant and Event Tourism Grant

There are two types of grant options:

1. Community

Grant requests that fall outside of the definition for Event Tourism Grants such as:

local fundraisers
smaller community events

You will need to review the requirements to ensure your request meet the evaluation and eligibility criteria.

2. Event Tourism

Grant requests for events that intend to attract visitors from outside of Dawson Creek, such as for an overnight stay.

Tourism Dawson Creek will review and make a recommendation for Council consideration for any funding based on the Event Tourism Strategy.

Sponsorship

Funding for sponsorship requests are from the same City budget as grants but they are outside of the Grants Policy.

A sponsorship request consists of both:

Funding provided by the City toward the cost of an event or project.
Return of advertising or promotion of the City.

Council will review and approve requests for sponsorship during a Council Meeting. Submit requests for the next available scheduled Council meeting for the agenda.
