BC Transit Replaces Buses in Dawson Creek to Increase Rider Capacity

Three BC Transit buses will be added to the Dawson Creek fleet and available to riders in early January 2021. It is the hope of the City of Dawson Creek that the addition of these buses will alleviate the problems that riders were experiencing with pass-ups over the last few months. School District #59 will continue to work with the City of Dawson Creek while the new busses are being implemented.  Dawson Creek Secondary – South Peace campus will continue to support students who had previously been affected by the downsizing due to the pandemic for the month of January. Thank you to BC Transit for hearing the concerns of our residents and for providing a solution to this issue, and thank you to School District #59 for accommodating riders in these unprecedented times.

COVID-19 Closure Signs Being Removed in Parks

Over the weekend, it was brought to the City’s attention that several COVID-19 closure signs were still hanging in our parks and on our walking trails. The City of Dawson Creek originally put these signs up in spring of 2020 when pandemic restrictions caused the closures of park amenities and playgrounds. These parks and playgrounds have since been opened; however, the City failed to remove these signs after the restrictions were lifted. We apologize for the confusion these signs have caused and would like residents to know that they are being removed. The City would also like to remind all residents that they can check the City of Dawson Creek website under “COVID-19 Dawson Creek Resources & Support” for any updates on closures and restrictions if any questions are being raised in the future: https://www.dawsoncreek.ca/2020/covid-19-resources-for-dawson-creek-residents/.
