City of Dawson Creek Proclaims Nov 30 – Dec 6 Para Cup Week
Dawson Creek, BC – The City of Dawson Creek is proud to proclaim November 30 to December 6, 2025 as Para Cup Week – a week dedicated to celebrating para-athletes and the international Para Cup event taking place in our community.
The 2025 Para Cup will bring together elite para-athletes from around the world, showcasing their extraordinary skill, resilience, and sportsmanship through high-level competition. This premier event highlights the power of inclusion and accessibility while celebrating athletic excellence across all abilities.
“The Para Cup represents more than sport—it represents community, unity, and the shared belief that everyone should have the opportunity to participate fully in recreation,” said Mayor Darcy Dober. “We are honoured to welcome these exceptional athletes, and we encourage our residents to come out, cheer them on, and take pride in the values they embody.”
The City’s proclamation acknowledges the significant impact of events like the Para Cup, which inspire young people, strengthen local pride, and reinforce the importance of removing barriers in sport and recreation. The dedication of the athletes, coaches, volunteers, and organizers reflects the perseverance, teamwork, and fair play that uplift and unite the Dawson Creek community.
Community Legacy
The 2025 Para Cup is also leaving a lasting impact on the Dawson Creek community through a variety of initiatives:
- Goals for Food – For every goal scored during the tournament, Ovintiv will donate $100, and Dawson Co-op will donate 2 Hunger food bags. All money and food collected will be donated to local food banks.
- Goal Line Getaway – Over 4,300 students from School Districts 59 and 60 (including Tumbler Ridge and Chetwynd) will attend morning games and receive lunch during Para Week – a program that is only possible through the support of both school districts and sponsors within our community.
- Fans for Food: Friday Food Drive – On Friday, December 5, 2025, attendees can donate a non-perishable food item at the box office and receive $5 off a ticket to one of Friday’s semi-final games. (Limit one ticket per item; offer available in-person at the Ovintiv Events Centre until 7:00 PM on Dec. 5.)
The City of Dawson Creek encourages all residents to participate in the celebrations, attend events, and honor the achievements and spirit of the para-athletes who make this competition extraordinary.
