Emergency Overland Water Transfer Update - December 23, 2025

To keep response tools active during the drought, the State of Local Emergency has been renewed to January 6, 2026. Our Emergency Operations team will continue to request renewals from the Province while we are in the permitting process to ensure we have the measures in place to act quickly should the need arise.

Current Conditions

While the area has received recent heavy snowfall, it does not immediately change our water situation. A strong snowpack helps carry us through to March/April, when spring runoff begins replenishing rivers and reservoirs. The Kiskatinaw River is already starting to freeze, and levels remain lower than normal.

Our Water and Environmental team continues to closely monitor river flows, reservoir levels, snowpack conditions, and weather forecasts to ensure Dawson Creek is in the best possible position.

The Emergency Operations team has secured some permitting and continues to work on obtaining the remaining permits to receive approval for laying the overland water transfer line and pumping from the Peace River.
