Property Taxes Due by July 2, 2026
2026 Property Tax Notices were mailed on May 9, 2026. Taxpayers, especially new owners, who have not received their Tax Notice, should contact the City Hall Tax Department immediately.
Home Owner Grant – Must Be Claimed Each Year
The Home Owner Grant program is administered by the Province of BC. Homeowners can apply online www.gov.bc.ca/homeownergrant or by phone 1-888-355-2700. Home Owner Grant applications are no longer accepted at City Hall and must be accessed through the Province.
Property Owners are encouraged to pay their property taxes and claim the Provincial Home Owner Grant, if eligible, by July 2, 2026 to avoid penalties.
Penalty for Late Accounts
If taxes remain unpaid after the July 2, 2026 deadline, a 10% penalty will be applied on the current tax balance as per Municipal Tax Regulation 426/2003.
Paying Your Taxes
Taxes owing can be paid:
- Through online banking
- Add “Dawson Creek Taxes BC” (DawCrkTaxBC) as a payee through your online banking.
- Enter the 9-digit tax roll number from your property tax notice. Do not include the # sign or any decimals, for example 001234.500 will become 001234500.
- Submit the payment 3-5 days before the property tax due date to allow for payment processing.
- In person at City Hall, 10105 12A Street
- Please make sure to check your daily transaction limit on your bank account before coming to pay as most bank accounts have a limit in place.
- By credit card over the phone or in person
- Please note that a 2% convenience fee will be added to the total if you use a credit card for payment.
- At your bank
- Bring your property tax notice with you to complete your payment.
