What to Expect

Once your inspection is scheduled, you will receive a calendar invite with a meeting link. At the appointment time, simply join the call and walk through the site with your phone or tablet. The inspector will guide you through the process and let you know what needs to be shown. Your inspection report will be sent to you by email.

If you have not used remote inspections before, we can provide a test inspection to help you prepare. This can be done virtually or in person.

When to Schedule an Inspection

You should schedule an inspection for:

1. Water and sanitary service connection
2. Footings formwork before concrete is placed - a survey certificate must be provided prior to inspection
3. Underground piping or plumbing prior to covering
4. Garage slab formwork before concrete is placed - a survey certificate must be provided prior to inspection
5. Foundation formwork before concrete is placed 
6. Drain tile, drain rock, damp proofing, and foundation prior to backfill 
7. Framing after floor, wall, roof, doors and windows are complete 
8. Rough in plumbing
9. Insulation and vapour barrier
10. Wood burning appliance 
11. Final building and final plumbing  

You are responsible for ensuring electrical and gas inspections are completed. Please contact Technical Safety BC.
