Zoning

The City of Dawson Creek Zoning Bylaw determines which types of land use are permitted inside each city zone. These include:

  • development density
  • siting of buildings
  • building heights
  • lot coverage
  • off-street parking and loading

The bylaw helps City Council make decisions around zoning requests such as Development Variance Permits (DVP) and Temporary Use Permits (TUP). It works alongside our Official Community Plan and other City of Dawson Creek bylaws.

If you would like to request a change to the zoning bylaw view information on rezoning.

Small-scale, multi-unit housing

Recent provincial legislation and regulations changes around small-scale, multi-unit housing (SSMUH) requires the City to update the zoning bylaw before June 30, 2024 to permit small-scale, multi-unit housing in single-family and where applicable, duplex zones in accordance with the required minimum densities in the legislation.
To learn more about these changes, visit the Province of BC's web page.
