Animal Services

The City of Dawson Creek contracts the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BC SPCA) for all animal services, including licensing. For information about nuisance animals, impoundment, hen keeping or bee keeping, view our Animal Responsibility Bylaw.

Animal Control

The SPCA provides animal control on behalf of the City. Their office is open Monday to Friday from 9:00AM to 5:00PM. For more information, contact Animal Services at 250-782-0370.

  • The City is known to have beavers, deer, moose and other animals exploring our streets. To report potentially dangerous wildlife-human interactions, call the BC Government’s Report all Poachers and Polluters (RAPP) hotline at 877-952-7277.

Get a licence

Animal licences are required for bees, cats, dogs, and hens. Learn more about getting a licence.

Dog parks

The trail system and some parks provide pet waste stations with waste bags available. View the map below to see all of the great places to take your canine friend for a walk, including Barbaree Park at 105th Ave and 15th Street, which is currently designated as an off-leash Dog Park.
