Paying Property Taxes

Property tax payments for the City of Dawson Creek are due at the beginning of July each year. Contact our Tax Clerk for estimated property taxes and the 2024 property tax rates.

The 2024 due date for taxes is July 2, 2024.

Payment options

We recommend monthly prepayment of taxes. Pre-authorized payments are withdrawn automatically for ten months on the first of each month (except in June and July).

Benefits of prepaying property taxes

  • Interest is earned on the prepaid amount and is applied to your taxes on December 31 and April 30 of each year. The rate of interest is based on the prime lending rate of the principal banker to the Province of BC. Interest is not paid from May 1 to July 4.
  • Paying on a monthly basis helps maintain a consistent cash flow and easy-to-maintain household budget.

Set up payment through your online banking.

  • Add “Dawson Creek Taxes BC” (DawCrkTaxBC) as a payee through your online banking.
  • Enter the 9-digit tax roll number from your property tax notice. Do not include the # sign or any decimals, for example 001234.500 will become 001234500.
  • Submit the payment 3-5 days before the property tax due date to allow for payment processing.

We accept VISA and MasterCard with an additional 2% fee.

Pay your taxes in person at your bank.

  • Bring your property tax notice with you to complete your payment.

Pay your taxes in person at City Hall.

  • Bring your property tax notice with you to complete your payment faster. If you do not have your notice, City staff will be able assist you.
  • Ensure you check your daily bank transaction limit beforehand.
