Community policing

Crime prevention is an important topic for RCMP members and community groups. The following groups are active in the Dawson Creek area.

Citizens on Patrol (COP) is an active group in Dawson Creek whose mission is to “improve community safety by training volunteers who partner with Police to accurately observe and report suspicious and or criminal activity.” To volunteer or learn more, visit southpeacecrimprevention.ca.

Crime Stoppers is a community-based program that allows individuals to provide anonymous information about criminal activity. Tips that lead to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward. All information is provided anonymously, and callers are never required to identify themselves or testify in court.

Rural Crime Watch is a volunteer-based program focused on supporting community safety through patrols and reporting suspicious activity in the rural areas of the South Peace region. Volunteers act as additional eyes and ears in the community, helping to deter crime and support local policing efforts.
