Water Security

Dawson Creek was not built around a major water source, unlike many other cities that developed near lakes or large rivers. Over the years, this has led to ongoing challenges in maintaining a secure and sustainable water supply, especially during dry seasons. Water security has remained a priority over the years and the City has taken many steps towards ensuring a secure water source is available for residents, businesses and the surrounding region. 

Sure Water Campaign

Dawson Creek and Pouce Coupe’s water supply is prone to drought and not expected to
meet future demand for water by residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural uses.

In response, the City of Dawson Creek contracted consultants in 2013 to conduct the Sure Water
